Patient Pathway UK Referral for Urgent Investigations in Memorial Antalya Hospital Turkey
There is currently a significant number of UK patients waiting for urgent medical investigations to exclude cancer. Recent data confirms that for most solid tumour types (breast, lung, colorectal, upper GI) urgent referral targets are being routinely unmet.
Patients without medical insurance face a difficult and anxious wait and are at risk of a delayed diagnosis of cancer influencing their chances of early diagnosis and cure.
OncoTrust was founded with the aim of providing UK patients without private medical insurance the choice to undertake affordable and rapid diagnostic tests with reliable and multidisciplinary reporting and treatment planning.
Once the tests are completed, patients be referred via to the NHS 2-week urgent suspected cancer referral pathway with all the relevant investigations already complete. This will allow them to initiate cancer treatment faster with a better chance of a successful long-term outcome.
So how does it work?
- Patients should see their GP first or use our Private GP service and complete an online questionnaire. This will confirm that their symptoms fit referral criteria and determine what tests might be needed.
- The 7-Day Pathway is not suitable for patients who are vulnerable, at risk, or need a level of physical, emotional, or other support (for example language barriers or cultural support or advocacy).
- Only patients able to travel independently and who fulfil referral criteria will be accepted on the OncoTrust pathway.
- Patients who require hospital inpatient will not be accepted on the OncoTrust trust pathway and will be appropriately signposted to NHS cancer pathways and resources.
- All patients who undertake tests have a multidisciplinary review and treatment plan. Patients with symptoms may have normal tests so careful assessment is needed, however patients will be in the beautiful city of Antalya, so a holiday experience is guaranteed.
- All reports are provided in English and are reviewed by our UK team to ensure consistency of reporting and accuracy of description so that they can be reliably interpreted and reviewed
- All patients are informed of the costs and charges and risks associated with travel to undertake medical investigations. Patients travel at their own risk and are informed of the possibility of negative investigations despite fulfilling urgent referral criteria.
- Patients will have the choice to undertake cancer care in Turkey if they choose but this is not part of the OncoTrust core services.
